Mating Flight 3- Green Jharnith
As recorded by Weyrwoman
Brina
Well dear, your impromptu decision to fly at Turquoise has created more interest then I thought it would!
They are all strong dragons, as they should be... a week dragon would never be allowed to fly me!
There are five eligible dragons who have shown interest, the first is M'lo and his dragon....
....Tionalth... I have seen him fly, he has a tendency to show off which his rider doesn't seem to appreciate. His abilities are quite formidable, maybe even worthy of my grace.
Are you interested in him dear? Ninara asked teasingly, M'lo does seem to be quite a nice fellow- she was used to her dragon interrupting her and had learned that it was not to be taken as an insult just a result of Jharnith's natural exuberance and disregard for any creature she deemed inferior. Ninara had learned early on that she loved the green far too much to be insulted by her so she merely listened as Jharnith interrupted.
I hold no more respect for him then I do the others I merely stated that he is a good flyer. No dragon is worthy of me, the one who catches me will just be less inferior that's all. Jharnith responded curtly.
Yes dear, Ninara responded. The second male who applied is names Ka'shan and his dragon Deridonth is from Talor Cliff Weyr,
I have heard their mindspeak. Deridonth is rather fond of me, I must say.
Jharnith! Did you listen in on their private conversations? I thought you would know better!
Deridonth thinks quite loudly, I did not pry. Besides I only listened to one conversation!
Still! It was rude!
But you are interested in what I heard aren't you? I know you are!
What else did you hear? Ninara asked regretfully.
With a mental chuckle Jharnith replied, Ka'shan seems to still be quite attached to someone he refers to as Razi. Although she seems to have disappeared somewhere. That is all I listened to Deridonth began thinking quieter once Ka'shan mentioned Razi. He still has an interest in her dragon Chareth.
Ninara sighed and looked back at the list that Weyrwoman Brina had given her to familiarize herself with the competitors, next on the list was N'ko. She had met him one day while she had been sunning Jharnith near the lake, and to her surprise he had asked her to join him for lunch. N'ko turned out to have quite a charming sense of humor and was also subject to the musings of a rather self-absorbent and self-confident dragon.
Feeling her dragon prying in on her thoughts Ninara paused. No demeaning comment regarding Yirbith? What a surprise! You to are quite similar you know.
Yirbith is quite a good specimen of Turquoise dragons, but he is still not worthy of me! Jharnith replied testily.
"Figures as much," Ninara muttered to herself. Seriously wondering if Jharnith would ever find a dragon that she deemed worthy.
Next is Kwavyeth, his rider is known as T'esh. Kwavyeth is from Dark Moon Weyr. He is rather handsome for a brown... not that that means anything, he is still quite insignificant.
Grinning, Ninara looked to the next name on the list. Y'tro and Vreth.
I haven't heard much about Vreth, but he says that his rider is proud that a runnerbeast of his placed first in a competition.
I haven't heard much of him either, he only visited Turquoise Weyr to register Vreth in your flight.
Yes yes, all very interesting rider mine, but I really need to get some beauty sleep, I must look my best for my flight...
Chuckling Ninara shook her head, Jharnith was quite a character. She watched as Jharnith curled into as much of a ball as she could manage and quickly dozed off. Staring back down at the list Ninara sighed, Jharnith's flight would be nothing less then interesting

Several Days Later
After many days of waiting Ninara was relieved when she finally heard Jharnith's defiant crow from the feeding grounds. Her first instinct was to hurry down to the grounds, but as she began down the stairs, she encountered M'lo the first of five eager males to reach her weyr. Turning, she hurried back into her weyr, M'lo in tow. Entering her weyr Ninara was overwhelmed as Jharnith's mind merged with hers, showing her the five dragon's behind her, three blue, two brown. She was startled at the vehemence of Jharnith's, and her own, disgust of the larger dragons. Forcing her mind back into her own body, she saw she was surrounded by the five men, each pair of eyes filled with a passion driven to new heights by their dragons lust for Ninara's dragon counterpart.
Meanwhile in the sky Jharnith flaunted her aerial acrobatics. Soaring high she watched as all five followed, then diving and twisting to the left, she watched as the larger browns struggled to keep up with her quick maneuvers. Seeing the males approach she twisted and with an elegant roll again increased the distance between herself and her chasers. Trumpeting her delight, she accompanied it with a mental taunt.
Weaklings, you aren't good enough for me. You will never catch me! I am Jharnith, the un-catchable!
We will see, the five chasing dragons seemed to think in unison.
You couldn't catch me if my wings were clipped and I was a squealing wherry.
Dear Jharnith, I hope you are not too disheartened when he catches you... Ninara though from below.
Even your rider knows you will be caught eventually the thick mental voice of Beridonth taunted.
When thinking of her flight, Jharnith had hoped for a cloudy day, so she could hide within the thick folds, giving her an added advantage over her chasers. But to her disappointment the day was cloudless, not even a wisp of cover. Soaring back up, she realized that having a clear sky could provide an advantage as well.
Heading up, she angled strait at the noontime sun, knowing that it would block the view of her from below. Reaching the desired height she turned and headed down behind of the rising dragons, knowing the blinding sun would hide her movements. Seeing all five bodies pass by her, Jharnith slowed her fall and turned under the line of ascending dragons. Pumping her wings to gain distance from the still ascending dragons she gained altitude so none of them could catch her from above and turned to watch as her pursuers realized they were chasing an invisible quarry. Dropping like stones the five dragons zeroed in on the rising green.
Putting all her remaining strength in staying ahead and above the perusing dragons, Jharnith turned her head to catch a glimpse of the following dragons. All she saw was a mass of blue hide. Shrieking she pounded the air with her wings, willing herself higher, farther from the intruding blue. Sharp claws raked her tail, catching hold on its tip. Using her tail as a hand-hold the blue succeeded in pulling himself level with her. Jharnith, still rising, trying to flee felt the thick tail entangle its self with her own, felt necks intertwine and wings flap freely, slowing the entwined pair's fall.
Four disheartened riders left the room, seeking mental comfort from their partners. Leaving the young couple to their own.

Catching N'ko's intense green eyes with her own blue she saw the hint of humor , ever-present in his eyes, fade away into a more serious and enticing gaze. Reaching up she brushed the stray lock of hair from his face and smiled gazing up at him. His hands teased their way through her long auburn hair. She could feel the dragon passion flowing through her veins and knew it was affecting him too. Joined to their dragons and each other with a passion unrivaled.
