"...Who's he?" "...What's one of his kind doing here?"  they were just some of the comments directed at me as i reached the entrance to Vella Crean, I spotted another one heading my way most likely to gape.  Muttering some nonsensical words that they obviously thought was an evil curse most of them scuttled away, afraid of me.  Good i thought, then they wont bug me.  the one that i had spotted earlier was now hurrying over to me with an inhuman grace.  Staring at her i realized that she was not, in fact human like i had earlier assumed but an elf like myself of rather not like myself.  She was white haired and fair skinned where as i was gray haired and gray skinned with an obvious blue tint.  A Moon elf and a Drow elf, not a pair you usually see, I thought.

Glancing up at the girl, she was taller than me by several inches, I saw her mouth hanging open at the sight of me, still garbed in the usual Drow dress of black i must look rather odd to her.  I could see that she was trying to form a question to ask me but was still in shock at my appearance.  She finally got it out though.

"What are you doing here?"  she managed, i had a feeling she was going to say more but i cut her off with my response.

"Seeking refuge," i said calmly, it was true, "most of the people around here aren't all that friendly towards otherworldlies, like me, but here i thought that i might be tolerated."  glancing at the retreating forms of some of the humans still walking slowly away from us i continued, "Obviously not."  Retreating to the shadows in the corridor i watched the elf girls' puzzled expression carefully I decided she was somewhere around 50, looking to human eyes more like 15.  She was about half my age and obviously had no idea that some Drow elves were not completely immersed in darkness.  Reviewing my history to myself i put i slight smile on my face when i had told my father i had no interest in the dark gods and goddesses after my 100th birthday, the mark of adult hood.  as i was an adult he couldn't shake some sense into me, as he had put it, or beat it into me if the occasion arose that i had done something really blasphemous.

Bringing myself back to the present i glanced at the elf maiden again, it was still marred by the confusion my speech had given her.  I suppose she sensed my gaze for she looked directly at me, piercing me with ice blue eyes that knew more than even a 5000 year old elf sage could never even imagine, she had something of a magical aura i realized as she put me under her spell, i could see shock, amazement and grief in those eyes.  She was doing something with me i knew then, it felt as if my mind was being invaded, run over with a fine toothed comb.  It was not an unpleasant sensation, i almost reveled in it.  Then it was gone she broke eye contact and stared down at the ground for a long time and i had no wish to approach someone that had such power.

shuddering, she razed her head so that she looked me in the eye but the sensation that i had experienced did not repeat itself for that i was extremely grateful for i had not noticed until then the drain on my energy, i could only imagine the drain on this young elf.  her form drooped and fell, unconscious, onto me.  deciding it was not in my best interests to leave her there i picked her up and carried her into Vella Crean.

I assume that it was a stange scean, a Drow elf bearing an unconscious Moon elf, it must not have looked good for several people ran into corridors that led to who knows where.  Well now i know where they go, into dragon weyrs.  At least that is what i thouht i saw in blurry eyes, tired from carrying the elf maid however light and from that sensation i had experienced before.  I assume that the great blue was only stoping her momentum when she gave her wings a flick but it was enough, in my tired state, to send me to the floor and bonk my head hard enough to knock me unconscious.

"...Yes, he's a Drow but he is not evil" I heard the elf maiden say. so she was awake, i wanted to know how she had done that little trick of hers.

And may I ask how you know this Haelaosoapliaialiolthareaithea? This was spoken by a deep growling voice, yet still undoubtedly feminine.

"I... I dont know" Haela said, so that was the name of the elf maid. "i looked into his eyes and it was as if his entire life was spread out infront of me, whatever it was it was really tiring and i must have fallen unconscious."  Great, i thought. she knows my life story, that was something i would rather have not let anyone else know.  Deciding to fake unconsciousness to hear the discussion and perhaps learn some more i settled down and listened.

so you have no reason for me to believe that this filth, I winced and the owner of that voice must have noticed, that is now awake i might add, was not here to wreak havoc as the rest of his kind do?

"he has..." I cut her off, i cant stand it when people talk about me like i'm not there.

"I have turned from the gods and goddesses worshiped by the Drow and have been exiled from the Underdark for that reason."  I said trying not to show any emotion when mentioning the underdark, my beloved homeland, it did not work.  My voice cracked as i said the rest of my sentence.  looking at Haelas' pitying expression i immediately  regained my mask of emotionless ness.

You still wish to be there i can tell, therefore...

The dragoness cut of abruptly and Haela moved over to talk to me.  If she knew all about me then she probably wasn't as scared of me as she had been when she had met me in the entrance to this place.

"Eeppoth must have been contacted by one of the other dragons here, she might get called away somewhere.  Then she'll have to let you go for a bit." she says, i hope she's right, getting  on the bad side of a dragon was not exactly something i wanted to do.  a draconic growl interrupted to silence.

Elduen, my mate thinks you would make a good candidate for my clutch.  I do not consider this a good desision but, i will allow it.

i stared at the dragon in stunned silence.

I was called down to the sands for a fourth time, rather intolerant with brooding mothers now, i stomped out my irritation as we were herded down.  All of my impatience with dragons and broodiness disappeared when i saw the eggs rocking furiously on the hot sands.

A dragon hatched, impressed, and the happy pair headed off the sands.  Two more eggs hatched, a blue and green, they looked at eachother for a while and i thought maybe they would impress one another, but no they broke eye contact and headed off in opposite directions, the green towards me and the group of boys, the blue to the girls.  the little green stoped right infront of me.

There is a reason you were not interested in those gods and goddesses. For I am here for you, and far more important. The voice was no doubt a male voice, as he looked straight up at me, he lost all of the seriousness. Don't you think I'm important Elduen? I am so important. You can worship me if you like. The green said in a rather cheeky voice.

"Oh Demiroth..." I sighed, yet I couldn't keep the smile out of my words.

We happily made our way off of the burning sands, Demiroth complaining that he was hungry all the way,  "we'll get something for you to eat Demiroth, don't worry." i said.

Good! 'cuz I'm HUNGRY! he wailed the last word aloud, laughing, i gently turned his head over so he could see the bowls of meat. his eyes lit up and he dived over to the heaps of bloody scraps.
